5 Easy and Flavorful Ways to Drink More Water

by Beth Warren April 16, 2018

With an ounce of blazing Spring sunshine, comes pounds of water…or at least we hope so, right? Keeping hydrated throughout the day is one of the best things to do for your overall health, skin and weight yet most of us struggle to meet our goal. I often explain that each day we need to wake up and make a commitment to drink because it doesn’t come naturally. Ideally, we hydrate when we feel thirsty, but the reality is that we ignore the cues or confuse them with hunger more often than not.

The more you drink, the more fluid it feels (pun intended ;)) But I understand that it takes time to get to that place and until then water may taste BLAH! Especially if you are used to artificially sweetened beverages (but that’s a topic for another blog post). Here are some ways to spruce up you drinks and ideas on how to get them in:

5 WAYS TO GET IN YOUR FLUID:

1.    Wake Up and Drink: Going hours during sleep without drinking actually leaves you dehydrated in the morning. Start off by drinking a glass of water, or even better, my Kosher Cleanse Elixir I talk about in my book SECRETS OF A KOSHER GIRL, trust me, you’ll body will soak it up.

2.    Keep a Bottle on You: These days, there are all cool types of water bottles (of course, our favorite is the BWN stainless steel bottle click here). It really helps to have something fun and easy to drink from that comes with you during the day. They even sell marked water bottles that show you how many ounces you are drinking click here.

3.    Use an App to Track: Let’s face it - we are all attached to our phones. We may as well use them to track our fluid.  Try these apps: download Daily Water Free or Carbodroid to your phone to set daily reminders and alarms. Feeling high tech? Take your tracking to the next level with the HidrateMe Smart Water Bottle ($60) and coordinating app. This cup records every ounce as you sip, and sends the information directly to your cell.

4. Try Sparkling or Mineral Water: If you want to give your water a little VOOM, then try a sparkling variety. Careful though, you want to be sure the flavored varieties aren’t adding artificial sweeteners or sugar.

5. Infuse Your Water: We are big fans of infusing your water with ingredients like lemon, mint, watermelon, cucumbers and celery. It’s sure to give you an added boost of flavor plus antioxidants, vitamins and minerals which ain’t bad at all. Try this portable infuser click here.
