Bianca's Secrets to Getting Fit - Fast and Easily

by Beth Warren March 6, 2018

It’s no secret that being physically active is important for overall health not to mention your weight. When it comes to weight loss, it matters what weight you are losing as you watch the numbers go down on the scale. Rapid weight loss plans, especially ones that restrict exercise, result in muscle loss. There’s no possible way to lose weight ultra fast and have it come from fat, your ultimate goal. As a result, your metabolism slows and it’s close to impossible to maintain your weight loss results eating actual foods at a normal level of calories. What was the point of heavy restriction when the results (if any) are short lived, leave you weaker, with less energy and more depressed or anxious?

Studies show that the most common answer for why people don't exercise is lack of time. Although this is a valid reason, we can’t let it be an excuse. I asked one of my favorite girls, Bianca Vesco, an independent personal trainer and Wilhelmina fitness model, to share her best tips to get us all moving despite obstacles in our way. Her Instagram account @biancapaigefit shows quick and easy workouts you can do anytime and anywhere. Checkout her interview and one of my favorite workouts she did using the NDO Band.

BWN: What does fitness mean to you?
BV: Fitness to me is a celebration that I can move my body in a million different ways, all the while challenging its power, strength, and stability.

BWN: What are some great workouts for those who can’t find the time or expense money to workout?
BV: This is the world of social media and there are no excuses anymore. You can literally google “20 minute arm workout” and at least a thousand results are going to come up. If you don’t have the time to sift through that information, stick to the basics. Pick 3-5 moves you know and give yourself a rep count (8-15) or a set time (30 seconds to a minute) and knock it out a few times though!

BWN: What would you tell people who think they “aren’t good” or intimidated to start working out?
BV: Being intimidated by fitness is totally understandable! I am still very much intimidated by things some times but we can’t be so hard on ourselves. I encourage people to trust the journey, I wasn’t able to do a push-up many years ago and now I can probably do 50. But it takes time! And patience! And some very serious discipline. You have to actually start for any progress to be made though.

BWN: What’s your best advice for how people should begin incorporating a workout routine into their week?
BV: Incorporating workouts into your week is tricky right? You want to find time for it so it doesn’t end up feeling like a chore (because it’s not!!!). I am a morning or afternoon (yes I have a job that allows that) workout person but others prefer to workout at night. If you know you need extra sleep in the mornings, don’t try and make yourself workout when you’d rather hit snooze that’s going to set you up for failure. Try a week of mornings VS a week of nights and see how your body responds. Or switch it up!
