Summer Advantages

by Jenn Tricot July 22, 2019

We all know how hard it is to take advantage of Summer when we’re faced with a heat wave all weekend, but it’s really important to use this opportunity to make healthier changes and create new habits for ourselves.  WebMD researched multiple reasons why Summer is an amazing season to consider making some healthy changes and choices.

-Most obvious one to consider is the weather. Once you choose an outdoor activity, you’re automatically taking advantage of the season. You can take on a walk, swimming, or riding a bike! A few minutes a day can go a long way.

-Another tip is to add fresh berries in your diet every day in order to improve your metabolism while giving your body the nutrients it needs. For  some refreshing recipes, check out our Summer Smoothie Series.

-Protecting your eyes from the sun is also a huge healthy change to take upon yourself during the Summer time heat. Sunglasses don’t only help prevent wrinkles but protect against cataracts and ultraviolet rays.

-Sip on natural fresh ice teas unsweetened or add a dash of a natural sweetener like agave or stevia, and change the flavor every other day! This is a great way to stay hydrated and fill your body with fluids while keeping you energized.

-Throwing together a healthy, fully loaded veggie salad is a fast east way to make you feel great and stay with the Summer trends. You can even take on planting something in your backyard, like any fresh herb and create your own basil, cherry tomato salad! Another idea is a delicious refreshing watermelon that you’d be desperately craving on a hot Summer day. Recipe below :)

** Don’t forget to stay hydrated and enjoy the sun while it lasts! Before you know it, you’re gonna be tying up those snow boots.
